What to do with the spot after stump grinding
Once the grinder is done, you're left with a pile of wood chips and a shallow depression. Here's how to turn that into a clean part of your yard.
First, decide whether you want the grindings hauled away. Our cleanup add-on handles that, but plenty of folks keep the chips for mulch around flower beds — they break down into great organic matter.
Next, fill the spot. We can backfill with topsoil as part of our landscape restoration service. Tamp it down, because the ground will settle as the buried roots decompose over the next year or two.
Finally, seed or sod. Spread grass seed, cover with a thin layer of straw, and keep it watered. Within a few weeks you'll have new growth and the stump will be a memory.
